Newport Visual Arts Center

Located at the historic Nye Beach turnaround, the Newport Visual Arts Center (VAC) was built by the City of Newport and opened in 1983 as a public art exhibition space and for art education programs. It is maintained and operated by Oregon Coast Council for the Arts.

  • William Runyan Gallery — approximately 1,100 square feet on the 1st floor with rotating exhibits throughout the year
  • Upstairs Gallery — 300 square feet on the 3rd floor hosting rotating exhibits, primarily featuring new and experimental artists in the Northwest region
  • Coastal Oregon Visual Artists’ Showcase (COVAS) — established in 2011 on the 2nd floor, rotating exhibits are typically 3-dimensional and feature work from coastal artists

The VAC also includes two classrooms/event spaces.
